2005 was a turning point for the ZDF co-production Dresden (original title The Fire). In the film, a young German nurse (Woll), falls in love with an English pilot (played by John Light) during the destruction of the city by allied bombers in February 1945. The movie was filmed in Dresden's rebuilt city centre as well as at the railway station (also rebuilt) and in other parts of Dresden.
